Project Learn
Project Learn reinforces the skills and knowledge young people learn throughout the school day. Project Learn includes POWER HOUR, a comprehensive homework assistance program. Each day, programs are offered in 5 core areas: Education, Sports Fitness & Recreation, The Arts, Health and Life Skills and Character and Leadership Development.
Youth of the Month
Our Youth of the Month is Olivia. She is a hard worker during PowerHour, plays well with other members, she loves to help other members and staff, respectful of everyone around her and she is always smiling! Congratulations Olivia!
Announcements
- Sherwood Forest will transition into our new site at Cross Roads Community Center sometime in mid October, more information to come.
-Payments are made by the 5th every month.
- *Late pick up fee after 6:35pm $1 per minute per child
- Our program cost is $200 per month (or $60 for Wednesday ONLY)
- Payment is due September 5th.2011
Programs offered at Sherwood Forest
This month we are offering a wide variety of program options. We offer:
- Power Hour, homework help/ tutoring program
- Drama Matters is our drama program, which is a favorite among many members.
- Triple Play is our healthy mind, body and soul program, combining exercise with healthy eating and healthy competition.
- Club Zoom is our weekly science program; one experiment they will focus on this month is the mystery of the microwave!
- Our Digital Arts program teaches our members how to create art using computer programs. This culminates in a festival each year.
- Skill Tech is used to increase our members’ efficiency in using our basic computer programs, such as the Microsoft Office Suite.
- Fit Club is our weekly fitness program where members can compete against themselves to better their times and numbers for a variety of fitness activities such as sit-ups and push-ups.
- Fine Arts is a year long program which teaches our members how to work with different mediums of art such as watercolor and pastel.
- Youth for Unity is a program designed to help members appreciate and understand our society's diversity, recognize unfairness and take personal leadership in confronting bias.
- SMART Moves (Skills Mastery and Resistance Training) prevention/education program designed to teach club members to make healthy life choices, developing assertiveness, strengthening decision making skills, as well as resources to improve confidence.
