TXL - Teen Excellence Center

TXL is a drop in teen facility open to all youth incoming 6th-12th grade. Cost of the program is free with a current Bellevue Boys and Girls Club membership. Programs will be offered in Recreation (basketball, football, and dodge ball), Technology (movie making and graphic design), and the Arts (fine arts and photography) and in Education and Career.

In addition, the TXL Center also offers a drop-in program for teens, which will include computer access, field trips to local parks (weather permitting), and other recreation activities, such as dance, and Parkour. If teens are in need of volunteer hours for high school, we have a Keystone Club, volunteer hours offered in the café, and a Jr. Staff program. Volunteer programs are open to incoming freshman and above. A monthly newsletter will be distributed to keep parents of TXL teens in the know of current information and schedules. Click here for our membership form.

BE GREAT: Graduate is a dropout prevention program that targets youth in grades 6-12 who show warning signs associated with dropping out of school. This program works with teens who are struggling academically for a variety of reasons and provides them with individualized case management based on their specific needs. This unique program is designed to help youth in our community to be more successful in school and to help them plan for graduation. Please use our referral form for your convenience as a tool for our staff to take the first step in engaging youth interested in the program. For a program description, click here.

The program will also offer tutoring and academic support five days a week. Annie, our program assistant, is also our volunteer/mentor coordinator and communicates with our youth to find the needs of the students. Our youth let her know what subject they may be struggling in and where they could use the help. In response, Annie fulfills that need with the tutors she recruits. If you or someone you know may be interested in volunteering as a tutor or mentor, click here to get the volunteer application.

Finally, BE GREAT: will also be encouraging all youth attending the TXL Center to participate in BE GREAT: Graduate to receive incentive points for our monthly incentive party. Those who participate in the incentive program will earn a chance to partake in a monthly party. The incentive party for the month of November will be going to see Twilight: Breaking Dawn. We throw these parties for the youth to show that we know they are working hard and they should be rewarded for it. The youth can receive incentive points in various ways such as showing us their grades and planner updates, participating in homework time, and answering the SAT prep questions.

Along with the incentive parties, we choose a Scholar of the Month each month. We chose Chase Barlow for the month of January. Chase works very hard in the BE GREAT program and always comes to the club ready to get his homework done. We are very proud of Chase and are very happy to have him as a part of BE GREAT!
