BUILDING OPPORUTNTIY: MEET JOSH AND CARLOS

 

Josh first entered our Eastside Terrace Clubhouse as a 3-year-old, tagging along with his mother as she picked-up his siblings from programming. 

Over the next ten years, Josh would come to see the Club as his “home away from home.” An active Club member, Josh, takes advantage of everything the Club has to offer, including WheelLab, soccer, art, and homework.

“When I feel like I can’t talk to anyone, I know there is someone I can talk to at the Club. The Club offers so many opportunities and connections. Carlos really takes pride in making it a home away from home. We’re one big family at the Club” --Josh, BGCB Club member for seven years
 
 

Carlos, now the Lake Hills Clubhouse Director, has mentored Josh over the years, helping him develop a strong character and work ethic. The pair often bonds over their shared passion for basketball and ping pong. Carlos is always there when Josh needs advice. 

When the COVID-19 crisis hit, and schools closed, Josh turned to the Club for a safe, fun place to go while his mother worked at a healthcare office. Because of you, our staff received the resources they needed to be successful and impactful mentors. Josh was so grateful that he could still receive support from Carlos. 

When you support during the COVID-19 crisis, you help ensure kids, just like Josh, had a safe place with caring adults and enriching programs while their parents served on the pandemic’s front line.
