General

What is the mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue?

Boys & Girls Clubs exist to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need us most, to realize their full potential as productive, responsible and caring citizens.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue is a non-profit organization that provides a safe facility, professional staff, fun environment, and programs to assist youth in developing self-esteem, values, and skills. We serve children ages 3-18 and provide programs in the areas of Academic Success, Good Character & Citizenship, and Healthy Lifestyles

What are your Screen Time Limits?

Screen time limits vary based on the age of our members.
For elementary-aged members the Club's Screen time policy allows for 45 minutes per day of educational and age appropriate screen time. No screen time is allowed during meals and snacks.  Youth are only allowed to visit the websites listed on our Cyber-Safe Websites page unless being directed by Club Staff.

If movies are planned, they will be G rated or parent permission will be required. Parents will be notified in advance of a movie being shown and an alternative activity will be available for those not watching the movie.

Are there any food restrictions?

We ask families and youth to be allergy aware, however, there are no Club restricted foods. 

What if my child has a special diet or medical needs?

Any information pertaining to diet or medical needs must be communicated to the Site Director at your Club location so that we may assist within our capacity. Allergies, medications, and doctor information can be updated online at www.bgcbellevue.org/ParentPortal, under the Submit a Form tab

A medication authorization form is required for staff to administer medications during the club time. This form is included in welcome emails sent before a program begins. Ask your Site Director for this information.

What if my child struggles with bathroom accidents?

For safety purposes, Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue staff do not support any youth while they are using the bathroom or changing their clothes in response to a bathroom accident. All youth must be able to use the bathroom independently. We encourage families to provide additional clothing in case of an incident. Families may be called to pick up early following a bathroom accident.

How can I pay my balance?

Payments can be made through our online parent portal at www.bgcbellevue.org/ParentPortal, over the phone at (425) 454-6162, in person at any location or by mail to our Downtown Clubhouse to 209 100th Ave NE, Bellevue 98004. 

Are refunds available?

What happens if my child loses an item?

We are not responsible for lost or damaged personal items. Please help us by labeling everything with your child’s name and leaving valuables at home. Stray clothing and items will be placed in the lost and found area each day. Lost and found items are donated on a regular basis. Please check with your Club for donation dates.

I have a friend or relative who will be picking up my child for the first time.

You will need to add the person to the Authorized Pick-up list by visiting your parent portal. If you are unable to do so, contact the Site Director of the location where the child is registered via email. You can also email us at admin@bgcbellevue.org or call the Downtown Clubhouse at (425) 454-6162. A photo ID is required for pickup.

How do I transfer or withdraw from a program?

If you would like to transfer from one program to another, first register for the program you would like to confirm and then submit a withdrawal for the one you do not want.

Withdrawals can be requested from your Parent Portal. For more information and how to submit a withdrawal, visit our Withdrawal & Refund page.

I've submitted a withdrawal but changed my mind.

Contact the Downtown Clubhouse to see if your request has been processed. If so, you will need to register for the program through your Parent Portal.

How do I download a receipt or statement for payments I’ve made? -- CREATE HOW TO

You can access receipts and statements through your Parent Portal. Once you have logged in, at the top of the page select Billing. Under Account Statements, select the blue button Statements.

How do I contact my child while they are at the Club?

We ask youth to put away their devices while at the Club as they will be engaged in many activities throughout the day! However, if you need to contact your child while they are at the Club, either call the location your child is attending or contact the Downtown Clubhouse at (425) 454-6162.

I'm on the waitlist. When will I be notified if space is available?

Once space becomes available, you will receive an email from us confirming you are still interested in attending the program. If we do not hear from you, we will move on to the next person.

If you accept the open space, submit a withdrawal for the program you no longer wish to attend. To submit a withdrawal, visit our Withdrawal & Refund page.

If the program begins within the next 2 weeks, payment in full is due. If no payment is made, you may be withdrawn from the program.

A current annual membership is required to enroll on the waitlist for a program.

No payment is due at time of registration if you are placed on the waitlist for a program.

How can I help the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue?

You can get involved in several ways - through financial donations, donating supplies, or volunteering your time. Visit our Get Involved page to learn more about how you can support our Clubs.

How are staff trained?

Our programs employ youth professionals who take seriously the work they do with children. Prior to being hired, each staff must undergo a criminal background check, reference check and in-depth interview. Our professionals receive Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and Boys & Girls Clubs of America program training. Trainings include, but are not limited to, child safety and harassment training and Trauma Informed Care trainings are required of all staff (including seasonal summer staff). To create a space in which youth can thrive, Youth Development staff and directors directly working with children are trained in the Weikart Center for Youth Program Quality’s approach. Current CPR/First Aid, Bloodborne Pathogens and Food Handler’s card certifications are mandated.

Sibling Discount ( $30 discount on monthly fee for any additional child enrolled in the Project Learn Before and Afterschool Programs, not applicable on Summer/Athletics)

Military Discount (All programs free for active Military Status)

Financial Assistance (Covers 20%-90%, apply via Parent Portal)

McKinney Vento (All programs free)

Bellevue School District Employee (School Year 50% Discount, not applicable to Summer/Athletics)

KCHA (All programs free not applicable to Athletics)

When are payments due?

Project Learn School Year Programs: 5th of each month

Summer Camp: 2 weeks before the start of each session

Project Learn - Before & Afterschool

How does the check in and out process work?

Members are received and checked in by Club Staff upon school release and/or their arrival at the Club. At pickup you will ask for your child at the front desk and they will be called and you will sign them out with the time of pickup, your name, signature
Anyone picking up your child will need to be listed as an Authorized Pick Up on their account, including parents. Anyone picking up your child should be prepared to present a valid photo ID to Club Staff.

Licensed Sites: State licensing laws require that the parent/guardian, or a person authorized in writing by the parent/guardian to take the child to or from the facility, must sign the child in on arrival and out when leaving the facility.

What are the hours?

Before school program: 6:30 am - school start.

Afterschool program: school release - 6:00 pm.

Some Clubs are open on days when schools are closed for breaks and professional development, while others may close for holidays or staff training. For the most up-to-date information, visit our School Out Day and Upcoming Club Closures pages.

All Clubs will be closed June 22-26 for Summer Training Week.

If my child missed school, can they go to the Club?

In support of the School District's attendance initiative, youth who do not attend school are not eligbile to attend the Club that day. Please notify the director at your site if your child will be absent.

 

 

What is the staff to youth ratio?

Currently, staff to youth ratio is 1:20.

Can I request my child be in a group with one of their friends?

You can request that your child be in a particular group or with a particular other member, but we make no guarentees that this will be the case. There are many factors taken into consideration when creating groups and groups can change from week to week. Requests should be directed to the Site Directors.

What is the cost of the Project Learn?

The fees for Project Learn can be paid at the time of registration or over time in equal monthly payments.

Before School : $125 per month
After School : $550 per month
Schools Out Days: Free for Project Learn members.

Will my child be in a group with similar aged children?

This will depend on the activity. Project provides age/grade appropriate programming as well as activities that are suitable for mixed ages and grades. Ask your Site Director for more information.

 

Are you open when schools are closed?

We are open on certain days when schools are closed. Visit our page Schools Out Days - Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue for more information.

I'm going to be late picking up my child.

Prompt pick up is an important acknowledgement of our staff's time. While we understand that situations can happen when you are running late, please understand that we have a responsibility to our staff to have them leave the Club promptly after their shift. If you are running late, please call the site to inform staff.

If a child has not been picked up by closing, the parent is responsible for paying additional fees. A $1/minute/child fee will incur for each minute you are late to pick up your child is due at time of pickup. 

School is closed due to weather or power outage. Are Clubs open?

In the event of inclement weather, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue will follow the schedule of the Bellevue School District. If Bellevue School District closes due to severe weather, all club programs for that day will be canceled.

If BSD is delayed (1 or 2 hours) or closed, before school programs will be canceled.

In the event of a power outage, affected locations will be closed.

All efforts will be made to close the Club prior to children arriving. If children are in the building, parents are expected to make efforts to pick up their child/children as soon as possible. 

 
 

 

Financial Support

Do I need to apply for each child in the family?

No, we accept one application for one Household and you can add siblings in that form, if needed.

Is 100% Financial Assistance available?

No, we don't provide 100% financial support We offer financial assistance covering 20% to 90% of program fees, based on eligibility.

What are important dates I need to remember?

Financial Assistance Expiration: Mid-June
Valid through end of school year programs

Financial Assistance Renewal Period Begins: April 1 

What is Financial Assistance Coverage Period?

Financial Assistance Coverage Period is Summer Programs though end of School Year Programs.

What are Costs that are not covered by Financial Assistance?

 Annual membership fee (coverage available with Apple Health Insurance card), Late pickup fees, Field trip costs and Materials fees are not covered by Financial Assistance, if approved.

Do I need to pay full program fee, while my application is under review?

No, do not pay full program fees. Select "Charge to Household". If a program begins within 2 weeks, you are responsible to pay 10% of the program cost. This is the minimum financial responsibility for families.

What are Eligibility Requirements?

You must create  an account and should have a current Membership in our Parent Portal.

Is my personal information safe to share while applying for Financial Support?

 All information provided for the Financial Assistance Application process is kept strictly confidential.

How long is the processing time?

All completed applications are processed in the order they are received and are sent to Financial Support Committee within a week. It may take two weeks time during renewal period.

How will I get to know about if I got approved or not for Financial Assistance. 

Once approved, you will receive the official Letter with Approval or Denial which is sent via email. Your account will be adjusted automatically as per the approved percentage of discount, before the Award Letter will be sent.

What if my discount is not applied to the fee?

If you have received official Award Letter and still your account is not reflecting discount, please email us at financialsupport@bgcbellevue.org or call (425) 454-6162.

What  if I don't qualify for Financial Assistance at this Time?

If you are DNQ with our Financial Assistance, you can contact one of our community Partner BrightSpark Early Learning Services

What if my child is enrolled in Mckinney-Vento Education Program with BSD?

You will need not to apply for our internal Financial Assistance. Just provide us with McKinney-Vento Education Program Notification for the 2025/2026 school year. All programs are free of cost under this Award.

Does submitting a Financial Assistance register my child or reserve a spot in the program?

Submitting a financial assistance application does not register your child or reserve a spot in the program. Membership/Registration is required to attend any program.

Do I need to apply for Financial Assistance if my child is attending any of BGCB Licensed Location (Ardmore/Newport Heights)? 

For licensed locations (Ardmore Elementary & Newport Heights Elementary), families must apply for WCCC before applying for Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue financial assistance. How to apply for WCCC. You will only need to apply if your child will be attending any other program on a different location.

 
 
 
 
 

  

Summer Camp

What can I expect on the first day of camp? Is there any paperwork to bring or sign?

Yes! On the first day of camp or first day at a different location you will be asked to review, update, and sign a Medication (Med Form) for your child (ren). This can go more quickly if you ensure that your child's account is up to date prior to or during registration. 

What should my child bring to camp?

Day Camps and Specialty Camps:

Labeled water bottle & a lunch that does not require refrigeration or reheating. 

If you decide to provide sunscreen, please be sure to label it with your child's name.

There may be days that members will be encouraged to bring specific items that pertain to themed days. This information would be included in the Welcome Email sent one week prior to the start of Camp. if participating in certain camp themed days throughout the summer that you will be notified of ahead of time via email.

Travel Camp: Labeled water bottle, a lunch that does not require refrigeration or reheating, sunscreen, swimwear, and towel.

How does the check in and out process work?

You will sign your child in and out of the Club at that site's Front Desk location. You are expected to accompany your child into the Club and sign them in with Club staff as opposed to dropping them off. At pickup you will ask for your child at the front desk and they will be called and you will sign them out with the time of pick up, your name, and signature.

What if my child needs to come late or leave early & then return back to camp?

For Day Camps and Specialty Camps you can drop off and pick up anytime within the camp's hours of operation.

For Travel Camps you would need to coordinate with the Site Director and/or Travel Camp Staff to discuss whether an offsite pickup or drop off would be feasible. 

 

What if we are late and arrive after the field trip has left?

If your Child's group is attending a field trip there will not be an alternate activity available. If they do not attend the field trip then they would be absent from camp.

Is my child required to participate in spirit days & dress up themes?

No, that is totally optional.

What is the cost of camp?

Day Camp: $355 per week
Specialty Camp: $415 per week
Carvan Travel Camp : $495 per week
Sunset Camp : $35 per week


 

Will my child be in a group with similar aged children?

In Day Camps and Specialty Camps groups are created based on grade/age so that activities are appropriate to that particular grade level.

In Sunset Camps members may choose between a variety of activities so they may be in a group with other elementary-aged members.

Can I request my child be in a group with one of their friends?

Are there extended summer camp hours?

Yes, extended Summer Camp hours are available in Sunset Camp from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM. This requires a separate registration from other camps.

What is the policy surrounding sunscreen?

Kids are welcome to bring their own sunscreen, we will not provide sunscreen. Staff can only help them apply spray sunscreen.

If I'm only attending a couple day of the week, is the fee prorated?

No, we don't prorate.

When are payments due?

Two weeks before the start of Summer Camp.

Are payment plans available?

Yes, payment plans are available, please ask Site Director for guidance and help.

 

 

 

 

  

Athletics

Can I request a coach or friend for team?

Yes, during the registration it will ask for your preferences.

How can I be a coach for a team?

Go to Athletics - Boys & Girls Clubs of Bellevue and read about becoming a coach on the right side of the page, and there's a link to fill out the volunteer form to be a Coach.

I registered for basketball or volleyball and still haven't heard back the details for practice?

Usually on the website, it will say a date that the coaches will be meeting, and shortyly after meeting, they will send out the emails to all of the families with the details. If you don't hear anything after the Coach's meeting, please email at athletics@bgcbellevue.org or call M-F at 425-998-5795.

 

Do I need to pay for the membership so my child can tryout for North West Storm Basketball League?

You don't need to pay for the membership unless your child gets picked to play on the team. Even if they don't get picked for the team, you'll need to pay for it, if they are going to continue to register for athletics programs.

 

Can I hold off on paying until I hear the practice schedule?

Do I need to withdraw, if I hear from Athletics that my child won't be able to play because there aren't enough coaches or there aren't enough participants in my child's age group?
